# Index monitor

Whether Google has indexed each of your pages, from Google's own URL Inspection data.

A page Google has not indexed can’t rank, however good it is. Search Console tells you about indexing in samples and totals, a few days late, and forgets what a page used to be. This tool asks Google about each of your URLs, one by one, through your own Search Console, and keeps the answers.

Pick a Search Console property. The monitor reads its sitemaps and the pages with Search Console impressions, then checks each URL with Google’s URL Inspection API: indexed or not, Google’s reason, when Google last crawled it, and the canonical Google chose. It keeps checking, and records each change Google makes between one check and the next.

It costs 1 credit ($1) a month for each Search Console property it checks through. Google allows 2,000 checks a day for each property, and the monitor spreads them over a week, so each property monitors up to 14,000 URLs. Sign in and connect Search Console; the first month is charged when you start.

1 credit ($1) a month monitors up to 14,000 URLs.

The index monitor asks Google about your pages through your own Search Console account. Connect it with read-only access to pick a property.

## Your monitors

Google access has expired. Connect Search Console again to see your properties.

Your Google account has no verified Search Console properties. Add your site in Search Console first.

Your payment went through, but the credits are not here yet. Reload the page in a minute.

## Delete this monitor?

Its URLs and every check and change Google made go. Credits already paid for this month do not come back.

## Check bigger sites faster

Google’s limit is per property, not per account. A folder you add as its own property in Search Console, such as `https://example.com/blog/`, gets its own 2,000 checks a day and monitors up to 14,000 more URLs. If you own the domain property, Search Console verifies the folder at once.

A site with more URLs than its properties can monitor has the rest found and counted, but not checked. Pages with Search Console impressions get the places first. The monitor lists the folders that would monitor the most of the rest, and how many each adds. Each added property is 1 more credit a month.

Each property checks its own folder first. The property above it, such as your domain property, checks everything else and takes the URLs its folders cannot fit.

## What you get

- Every URL with Google’s own state: “Submitted and indexed”, “Crawled - currently not indexed”, “Discovered - currently not indexed”, “Duplicate, Google chose different canonical than user” and the rest, grouped into blocked or broken, duplicate, and not chosen by Google.
- Pages Google dropped: indexed at one check, not at the next. Search Console shows where a page is now; this also shows where it was.
- When Google last crawled each indexed page. Google tends to drop indexed pages it has not crawled for about 130 days, so pages at 90 days and over are flagged.
- Folders, with the share of each that Google indexed.
- A log of what Google changed: pages indexed, dropped, given another canonical, or blocked by robots.txt.
- A CSV of every URL.

## How it works

- URLs come from your sitemaps (the ones in Search Console and robots.txt, indexes and gzip files too) and the pages with Search Console impressions in the last 28 days, read again every day. A URL no source lists for 14 days stops being checked.
- Each monitored URL is checked about once a week. New URLs go first, and pages at risk come back sooner: dropped pages every 3 days, and indexed pages Google has not crawled for 90 days every 2 days.
- Checks use your own Search Console access, read-only. The monitor never asks Google to index anything or changes your Search Console.
- Google’s day ends at midnight Pacific time, when each property’s 2,000 checks start again.

## Credits

- A monitor costs 1 credit a month for each property it checks through, charged up front.
- Adding a property during a month charges only the difference, once. Removing one lowers the next month’s price.
- Pausing keeps the month you paid for; resuming inside it costs nothing.
- When your credits can’t cover the next month, we email you 7 days before. If they still can’t, the monitor pauses and keeps its URLs and history. Buy credits and it starts again by itself within the hour.
