# AI referral traffic

See how many visits ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and other AI assistants send your site, and where they land.

When ChatGPT, Perplexity or Claude cites your page and someone clicks the link, that visit lands in Google Analytics under the assistant’s domain. This tool finds those visits in your GA4 property and puts them in one report: how many there were, which assistant sent them, which pages they landed on and how many key events they brought.

It’s free. Sign in, connect Google Analytics with read-only access, pick a property and the last 28 or 90 days.

## Your recent runs

| Property | Result | Date |
| --- | --- | --- |

## What you get

- AI visits, their share of all your visits, visitors and key events.
- Each assistant’s visits and share, with the exact sources Google Analytics recorded.
- A bar for each day, so you can see when it started and whether it’s growing.
- The pages AI assistants send people to, with their visits, key events and the assistant that sends the most.
- CSV and JSON downloads.

## How it counts

It reads your GA4 sessions by session source and matches each source against the domains of these assistants: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI, You.com, Poe, Phind, Le Chat and NotebookLM. A subdomain counts (`m.perplexity.ai`); a lookalike does not.

## What it can’t see

- Some AI apps send no referrer, so their visits show as Direct or Unassigned in Google Analytics. Nothing can name those.
- Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode count as Google organic search. Use [AI answer check](https://ian.is/tool/ai-answers) for those.
- When Google Analytics hides rows to protect privacy (thresholding), samples the data or groups rows into “(other)”, the report says so, and its numbers are lower than the real ones.

## Privacy

- Read-only: the tool can’t change anything in Google Analytics. You can remove its access at any time, as the [privacy page](https://ian.is/privacy) explains.
- Each run gets its own link, which only you can open. The report is kept in your [reports](https://ian.is/account/reports) until you delete your account.
